Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located, and where do I pick up my puppy?

We're based in Water Valley, Mississippi, where all of our puppies are born and raised. Most families pick up their puppy right here in Water Valley. We also offer pickup in Loganville, Georgia for a flat delivery fee. For families farther away, we can recommend trusted transport companies for nationwide transport.

How does the buying process work?

Browse our available puppies, then submit an application for the puppy you're interested in. We'll review your application and reach out if you're approved. A puppy is officially reserved once your contract is signed and your deposit is received. Then it's just a countdown to pickup day!

How does the paid waitlist work?

Our paid waitlist is for families who want priority placement on an upcoming litter. A deposit joins the waitlist, and an additional non-refundable deposit reserves your puppy once one matching your description becomes available. Families are contacted in the exact order their deposits were received. If we don't produce a puppy matching your description within one year, your waitlist deposit is refunded upon request. Full terms and current deposit amounts are on our Join Our Waitlist page.

Are your puppies' parents health tested?

Yes. Every Wildflower Dachshund puppy is bred from parents that are DNA health-tested through Embark for the genetic conditions relevant to miniature dachshunds, including intervertebral disc disease (IVDD/CDDY), progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), narcolepsy, neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (NCL 1 and 2), limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, mucopolysaccharidosis type IIIA, and osteogenesis imperfecta.

What does your health guarantee cover?

Every puppy goes home covered by the written health guarantee in our purchase contract. In short: you must have your puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 48 business hours of pickup to keep the guarantee valid. Puppies are also guaranteed for one year against death caused by life-threatening genetic defects, with a replacement puppy of equal value from the next available litter when the contract's conditions are met. Like all guarantees, there are exclusions. The complete terms are spelled out in your contract before you sign.

What vet care does my puppy receive before coming home?

Every puppy is examined by our veterinarian, brought up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and dewormed before going home. Your puppy's health records and health certificate go home with you in the puppy pack.

When can my puppy come home?

Puppies go home at 8 weeks of age. For the health and safety of our puppies, we never allow visits or outside exposure before 8 weeks of age and vaccination.

Do you allow in-home visits?

No. For the safety of our family dogs and puppies, we don't allow in-home visits. Young puppies are vulnerable. Their immune systems are still developing, and outside visitors can unknowingly bring in illnesses that could seriously harm them or our adult dogs. We're happy to share photos and video updates of your puppy while you wait for pickup day!

What comes in the puppy pack?

Every puppy goes home with a thoughtfully packed puppy pack: your puppy's health records and health certificate, a sample bag of their food, puppy pads, a toy, a blanket that smells like home, and a collar.

Do you ship puppies?

We don't ship or fly puppies ourselves. For families who can't pick up in Water Valley, Mississippi or Loganville, Georgia, we're happy to recommend trusted transport companies that families across the country use to bring their puppies home safely.

What varieties of dachshund do you breed?

We offer miniature dachshunds in all colors and patterns, including shorthair, longhair, dapple, and English cream.

Do you sell breeding rights?

No. All of our puppies are placed as companion pets only. No breeding rights are offered.

How do I apply, and does applying reserve a puppy?

Complete the application on our Available Puppies page for the puppy you're interested in. Please note: submitting an application does not reserve a puppy. Your puppy is officially reserved once your contract is signed and your deposit is received. A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve. The current amount is listed on the Available Puppies page.
